Ms. Belous’ background includes a broad business/corporate legal background with in-depth experience in intellectual property (IP), business affairs, corporate compliance/governance, labor issues, marketing, production/licensing, consumer products, famous brands, privacy and media regulation. She is highly skilled at interpreting twentieth century laws (which have yet to be updated) for situations and matters that exist in the twenty-first century. She is proficient in providing expert-level legal representation, and maintaining an unwavering commitment to protecting companies’ rights against the “Goliaths” of the world.
As a “360” lawyer, she has a track record for consistently meeting strict deadlines, maintaining maximum productivity in individual and group endeavors, and navigating diverse business structures, cultures and environments. Her keen ability for brand management is accented by and highlighted with the building and oversight of all sizes of IP/content portfolios, training staff, building of business systems, and a history of negotiating and drafting complex deals, including ones of innovation and first impression. Her background includes working with a range of clientele ranging from start-up organizations to famous brands and celebrities including Stan Lee, MGM, The James Bond Franchise, Teen Wolf and Penthouse to name a few.
She has managed worldwide trademark and intellectual property portfolios with over 1,000 marks and supervised issues related to small business compliance issues. Additionally she has been a key player in the formation of new entities, clearance work and various digital, corporate and privacy policy issues.
Her expertise with smaller companies and entrepreneurs was fueled from her involvement with the smaller vendors of larger companies where she worked. At MGM she negotiated the studio’s initial round of digital distribution deals with key online and digital media platforms, and drafted and negotiated licensing and production deals for the company’s 4,000 title film library (including Pink Panther, James Bond/007, Spaceballs and Teen Wolf). Ms. Belous has also worked with and advised other media based companies such as Genius Entertainment, Trimark Pictures (now Lionsgate), Ventura Distribution/Urbanworks Entertainment and First Look Studios.
Ms. Belous is a member of the California and New York bars. She also serves on Southwestern Law School's Entertainment and Intellectual Alumni Board. She is an active speaker and contributor on intellectual property law and the First Amendment, having been featured twice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal as “Featured General Counsel”.
